Romantic Suspense
New York City; Youngstown, Maine - Present Day
Sarah Newton is an investigative reporter for Truth
Magazine. Sarah has a special skill that helps her debunk the
myths and legends that are often associated with murder. She doesn't
have supernatural powers, but her eye for detail and the quest
for the truth angers people when their web of lies are exposed.
Because Sarah has been so successful, she has become a pariah.
Nevertheless, Sarah has her own secrets to hide -- can she keep
the truth about her own past hidden?
Sarah's latest assignment is in Youngstown, Maine.
A popular teenager, Valerie Gerard, is dead; her body has been
found in a small chapel. Now another young girl, Alicia Appleton,
is missing. Sarah's editor, Tae, has heard about a rumor that
the local townsfolk are blaming the murder on a curse that was
put on the town years ago. As horrific as this is, twenty years
ago the same thing happened. Has the curse returned for seconds?
Kale Conner is a lobster fisherman and manages the
family business. Having lived in Youngstown all his life, Kale
knows his neighbors well and believes none of them could be a
murderer. He is also the newest member of the City Council. Kale's
unofficial job is to keep Sarah in line and to curtail any bad
publicity that comes from her work. Kale and Sarah meet, and as
they clash, it becomes New York vs. Maine. Their mutual attraction
has Sarah finding it difficult to keep her focus on work. However,
she quickly discovers that somebody is getting nervous, and she
finds herself in danger. Can Kale keep her safe?
FIND ME sweeps the reader into the heart of Youngstown
with the secrets and skeletons that have seeped into the closets
of the local townsfolk. Sarah's past raises its ugly head as FBI
agent, Lex August, who happens to be an ex-lover, arrives. With
Lex on the scene, Sarah finds herself shut out of the investigation,
as Lex bluntly tells everyone about Sarah's past. In the meantime,
another girl goes missing, and Sara knows the work is not of the
devil, but of man. Will Sarah be next?
Debra Webb has written a superb story. From page
one, I found myself immersed in this tale. Even with a large cast
of characters, Ms. Webb has kept the story line true with tantalizing
clues, murder, and with Sarah and Kale's unexpected romance. Sarah
is a wounded soul and is an unlikely heroine. Readers will embrace
Sarah as she fights to keep her fears and sanity in check while
trying not to become a victim. Secondary characters have their
own story and are well defined and compliment the story line.
FIND ME is a riveting, chilling tale, and the volatile ending
gives a hint of what to except in a future read. I look forward
to reading more of Ms. Webb's work.
