Romantic Suspense

Austin, Texas – Present Day

Cat Dupree, successful Dallas bounty hunter, is finally happy and thinking of settling down with her lover and fellow bounty hunter, Wilson McKay. Cat has literally been through hell and back after having her throat slashed by a killer’s knife when she was thirteen years old, right before she watched the same psychopath murder her father. It seems she’s been running all of her life from one danger to the next, and, sadly, she’s still running. But at least Wilson is by her side this time, even though he’s still recovering from a near fatal shooting. Six months ago, one of Wilson’s captures almost killed him. Wilson took a bullet, and he and Cat have left Dallas behind and moved into his parents' home on the family ranch in Austin. But Wilson’s attacker is still out there, and it’s only a matter of time before he finds Wilson, and this time, Wilson might not escape.

Meanwhile, in Chihuahua, Mexico, Detective Luis Montoya has a murder to solve. The dead man was Soloman Tutuola, and every person Luis has questioned calls him by the same name, El Diablo, or the devil. There is absolutely no doubt in Luis’s mind that Tutuola was the epitome of evil, but even so, the dead man deserves to have his killer put behind bars. Tutuola was found inside a home he recently purchased in Chihuahua after it burned to the ground, and over two million dollars in cash is missing. So Luis decides to follow the money, and with each town he puts behind him, every single clue he uncovers points to an American bounty hunter named Cat Dupree.

Jimmy Franks is watching, waiting. He screwed up when his bullet didn’t end Wilson McKay’s life. But the next time he won’t miss. First, he has to find out where McKay is hiding, and when he does, he’ll take him down, this time for good.

BAD PENNY is a fast-paced tale of revenge and murder told through the eyes of the characters involved. Bounty hunter Catherine Dupree, or Cat, and her lover, Wilson McKay, are the principals in this exciting story, but Luis Montoya and Jimmy Franks are two important secondary characters who appear in alternate scenes interspersed throughout the chapters.

Wherever there is danger of any kind, it finds Cat, and this story is no different, beginning right out the gate with Cat battling the bad guys. But finally, after spending years pursuing the man who scarred her for life and killed her father, Cat has found the love of her life in Wilson. She wants to marry and live happily ever after, if she can stay out of trouble long enough to go through a wedding. Wilson just loves Cat more than life itself, and he’ll go to any length to keep her safe and protected. Theirs is a love story that truly knows no bounds as it only gets stronger with each hit it takes.

Several minor characters make appearances throughout the pages as Luis Montoya searches for a trail to Tortuola’s killer, and Jimmy Franks gets even closer to Cat and Wilson. Each and every character is vibrant and important to this story, which is the third book in The Cat Dupree Series, following NINE LIVES (October 2006) and CUT THROAT (November 2007). Even though BAD PENNY takes up where the previous book ended, it stands totally alone with an exciting tale of suspense.

Catherine Dupree has more lives than that proverbial cat. She’s gritty and gutsy, but her life as she’s known it is changing quickly, and to find out how, you’ll just have to pick up BAD PENNY!
