Italy – Present Day

A few months ago, prim headmistress Beatrice Higginbotham spent a glorious night in the arms of a mysterious Italian in Venice. Now she is pregnant and needs to go back to Venice to see if she can find her mysterious lover. She is offered a job caring for billionaire Cesare Chiavari’s teenage sister at his Italian estate. Beatrice sees it as an opportunity to search for her former lover. To her surprise, it turns out her mystery lover is none other than Cesare himself. But he doesn’t recognize her because when they had their night together, she had turned into a seductress for a night on the town. She is now dressed in layers of clothing with her hair in a tight bun and wears glasses. Beatrice is disappointed he doesn’t recognize her, but she can no longer tell him the truth. Cesare is planning to marry a woman of his circle.

An unexpected pregnancy is the result of the one night Beatrice let her hair down—literally—in HER VENETIAN SECRET. It was her students who had done a beauty makeover of Beatrice. But it was her decision to go out to spend a night on the town. This is where she met Cesare, though they never exchanged names. After discovering she was pregnant, she knew she could no longer work at the boarding school because an unmarried woman is not a good role model for young and impressionable teenage girls. Getting the job caring for Cesare’s sister is fortuitous since the girl is already a student and Beatrice can spend her free time to find the baby’s father. But imagine her shock to finally meet Cesare.

Cesare has his life mapped out according to a letter left to him by his late father. He will marry a woman who knows the marriage is just a façade of respectability. Love will never be a part of it. When he meets Beatrice, a flicker of unexplained intrigue about her comes over him. Why is a drab school headmistress making him look twice at her? Deep inside, Cesare is unsettled. He can’t forget the beautiful woman he spent a magical night with. But she is in the past, and he has to marry for the future.

I do think readers need to pretend a little that Cesare totally can’t see Beatrice as the woman he spent that night with. Yes, she hides in baggy clothes and wears her hair differently along with thick glasses. But looking into her eyes and when she talked, he still didn’t catch on. In HER VENETIAN SECRET, it is only a matter of time before he realizes the truth. At what point will that happen? How will his marriage plans pan out? Will they find a way to relive their night together—and find happiness? Discover all the answers by grabbing a copy of HER VENETIAN SECRET.
