Colorado – Present Day

Mountain man Luke Fletcher has been in love with his best friend Addison “Roe” Monroe for years, but she has never shown a romantic interest in him. But with her father retired and threatening to sell the family lumber business because of some silly rule in the family that it can only be left to male members, Roe is frantically trying to find a man to marry her for a year (she has to be married that long to claim the business). She has made the business her life, and no way she will let her father sell it because she is a female (her brother died as a child). Luke has been trying to convince her to marry him, but she continually turns him down because they are friends and she doesn’t think he’s marriage material. After telling Luke that she hopes to find a husband candidate at a lumberjack competition, he gets the idea to sign up for it, even though he’s not in lumberjack shape. But it works, as he attracts Roe’s attention, and she agrees to marry him. First hurdle was accomplished. The second one will be to get her to fall in love with him.

Luke and his brothers operate a furniture-making company, and all (except for one) live on the mountain above Boulder. They are a rowdy bunch, but Luke is the last brother left unmarried. But that’s about to change in HONEYMOON PHASE by Amy Daws. This tale is hilarious at times but also filled with enough emotion to have you teary-eyed. Luke first met Roe at the lumberyard when they were teens, but because he got caught by her father ogling her, he was warned away. That didn’t stop Luke and Roe from forming a friendship, and the two got along, though it’s more about interacting at the lumberyard or in the bar, and less about spending time alone together. They do a quickie wedding with none of the family present. Of course, this causes family members to be perturbed about it, so they demand a real ceremony. Roe hasn’t told her father that she plans to be married to Luke for only a year. Luke is determined to have her fall in love with him by the time they walk down the aisle. Will that happen?

While HONEYMOON PHASE is part of the Mountain Men Matchmaker series, this can be read as a standalone. But I do highly recommend reading the other books in the series, as it gives you insight into the hilarious estrogen that runs in the Fletcher family. Luke is a good guy, though he does have a rooster in his house daily that wakes him. Luke and Roe don’t share a bed, but readers know that it will soon change. She loves to bake bread as much as she loves her job at the lumberyard. He will do anything for her, and it shows in the HONEYMOON PHASE. Readers will feel the love flowing between them, even though those three little words are not spoken. All and all, this tale is a fun, feel-good tale that keeps you engaged and not wanting to put it down.

An entertaining romance that will have you rooting for Luke and Roe to find a happily ever after, don’t miss HONEYMOON PHASE. You won’t be sorry.
