Alaska – Present Day

After selling off her upstart company to another one and pocketing millions, Sophie Crush is at a loss as to what to do next. She was the only child of her now deceased single mother, so she recently took a DNA test and learned that she is closely related to the Cambridge family who lives in Alaska. Deciding to go there and confront them to find out if they are indeed related to her, Sophie arrives at their home uninvited. She almost immediately runs into Alaskan bush pilot (and a Cambridge employee), Nathaniel Stone, who is suspicious of her motives. But Mason Cambridge intercedes, though he immediately denies that they are related since neither his father nor his uncle was known to have been unfaithful to their wives. But Sophie is determined to find out the truth.

There is most likely a connection between Sophie and the Cambridge family, and she is invited to stay for a few days to not only try to figure it out but to get to know each other. Stone is assigned the task of showing Sophie around, which leads to the inevitable attraction between them. But her plans are to return to Seattle where she lives, even if her future is somewhat unsettled. A DNA test confirms that Sophie is the daughter of the uncle, but he vehemently denies cheating on his wife. A surprise development later in MIDNIGHT SON reveals the truth. Meanwhile, as much as Sophie tries to resist falling for Stone, that soon proves impossible.

In MIDNIGHT SON, Sophie is trying to learn about her father, but she ends up finding a whole new family—and a man she falls in love with. She and her friends had started a successful company and recently sold it, making tons of money for her. But she can’t start over again until she learns the truth about her paternity. Sophie figures she would find her dad amongst the Cambridges and then she would walk away. But even before the truth is finally (shockingly) revealed, they have embraced her. Of course, an advantage of sticking around is that it allows her to get to know Stone (no one ever calls him by his first name in the book). As the days and night linger on, their closeness deepens. But the bigger question is whether it’s enough to have them think about a future together. Falling in love doesn’t necessarily mean a happily-ever-after.

An emotional read that will keep you riveted, be sure to pick up and read MIDNIGHT SON.
