Virginia – Present Day

Sergeant Alfred “Alfie” Parker died while participating in a raid of a master criminals’ operation. The raid consisted of local law enforcement swat teams and the FBI. The massive criminal organization came to Alfie’s attention from a young woman, Susie, who he arrested. At his death, the well-being of Susie was unknown. So, now he stands patiently in the cemetery waiting for Patrick Law, a psychologist/psychiatrist, and a police consultant to meet him. Alfie has a bad feeling that the head of the crime organization is not in prison and is not who they thought it was. Alfie feels sure Susie is still in danger, and now FBI Agent Jordan Wallace, on an undercover operation, may also be in peril.

Patrick Law is no stranger to the strange and unusual, he and his sisters (they are triplets) all have unusual talents. When Patrick meets Alfie in the cemetery and learns of Alfie’s fears, he agrees to help protect Jordan and look for the missing Susie.

Jordan Wallace is the newest agent in the FBI Krewe of Hunters, young, beautiful, and skilled, she is the perfect agent to go undercover to find out why young women have gone missing. From the beginning of the investigation, she believes it ties in with a larger criminal organization, run by “John Smith.” Though the FBI believes “John Smith” is Rory Ayers, and Ayers is already in prison after the raid conducted where Alfie died, others wonder if Ayers is just a bad guy, and not the mastermind.

Things go south when Jordan is abducted, just like the other women. Jordan’s fearlessness and skill allow her to escape her captors, though she wouldn’t have survived if Patrick and Alfie had not shown up just in time. Patrick’s tirade that she was reckless doesn’t sit well with her, even if she barely escaped. The rest of the Krewe is called in and the warehouse where the kidnapped women are being held is raided. The women are rescued, and a multitude of criminals are either killed, wounded, or taken to jail, including a woman who is no stranger to the Krewe.

Once the dust settles, the real investigation begins. The Krewe learns that there are other locations where the loved ones of some working for the organization are held prisoner to keep the hired thugs in line. Who really runs this criminal enterprise, and if it’s Rory Ayers how is he doing it from prison?

Patrick, Jordan, and Alfie along with the rest of the crew start searching for the families while they try to find out who is really pulling the strings. They also wonder if it’s possible that Alfie’s friend Susie is still alive … no one seems to know what happened to her. As the Krewe gets closer to the answers the danger escalates. Patrick and Jordan try to fight their attraction to each other, but it doesn’t work, and while they are struggling to unravel the truth behind “John Smith” and the missing families as well as Susie, Ayers escapes from prison and the stakes get even higher.

A gripping novel of suspense, with paranormal elements, VOICE OF FEAR is a terrific read. I’ve read most of the Krewe of Hunters novels, though not all, yet, and had no problem keeping up with all the names and people involved in the novel. If you haven’t read the Krewe of Hunters series, the relationships and members of the team are explained within the novel so that you won’t be confused. VOICE OF FEAR is about the team, but the core of the story is Patrick, Jordan, and Alfie. If you like exciting, fast-moving suspense you will love this novel. I highly recommend VOICE OF FEAR, and once you have read it, I bet you will go searching for the 37 previous novels. Heather Graham delivers on every level. Enjoy!
