Fredrick, Maryland - Present Day

After the death of his wife, Sam “Slider” Evans pulled away from his brothers in the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club, from his plans for the future, from everything except his two little boys. He'd been managing everything okay, but a few months back, some trouble at the racetrack the Raven Riders own meant Slider temporarily lost his babysitter, and Cora Campbell offered to help. In the months since Cora started watching the boys, both ten-year-old Sam and six-year-old Ben have changed; they have been getting back the personalities they had before their mother's cancer diagnosis and death, and getting over the worst of their grief. While Slider is glad that the boys are doing better, he's still keeping his distance from his attractive babysitter—he's learned the hard way that you can't count on other people.

Cora Campbell and her best friend, Haven, ran away from bad situations at home, only to be kidnapped by a gang dealing in human trafficking. After being rescued by the ex-military men that work out of Hard Ink Tattoo, Cora and Haven were taken in by the Raven Riders, who often help abused women and children find new, safer lives. Before they could be relocated, Haven fell in love with the club's president, Dare, and Cora started to help with Slider's boys. Though she's not really sure what she wants to do with her life, Cora decides to stay near Haven and the other friends she's made—and while she's cautioned herself against getting too attached to the Evans men, Cora knows it may already be too late for that.

When Cora goes from part-time babysitter to live-in nanny, things start to change between Cora and Slider. It's more difficult to hide the attraction growing between them, and soon it becomes impossible to resist. Both have things in their past that make it difficult to trust, but maybe that can be one more thing drawing them together.

The latest Raven Riders novel, RIDE WILD finally gives readers the chance to get to know Slider Evans and Cora Campbell. Both are first introduced in RIDE HARD; through Dare we see how the brothers are worried about Slider who lost his wife to cancer, and as Haven's best friend, Cora helped Haven to escape her criminal father, never letting her know just how bad things had gotten at home for Cora. Getting involved with a motorcycle club was not something they planned, but with the Raven Riders, both women have found more of a family than they'd ever had before. With Cora's help, Slider begins to realize just how much he has withdrawn from that family, and reminds him of the dreams and plans he'd had before his wife's death. They are each still hiding things from their friends, but as they start to get to know one another better, Cora and Slider learn to trust one another, and start to heal.

There is an underlying plot that ties the Raven Riders series together, so it may be best to have read the books in order so that you have an idea of what's going on outside of the relationship between Cora and Slider. However, RIDE WILD really focuses on the Evans family—young Sam and Ben play a big part in bringing Cora and Slider together—and is a compelling story that I highly recommend.
