Julian, California – Present Day

It’s April 23rd every day for Carly Hart and Adam Rhodes. An endless cycle of going about their lives that day and waking up the next morning to…start the same day over. Carly was at Adam’s funeral home, mourning the death of her father, when she overheard Adam and his now estranged wife, Shireen, arguing over the breakup of their marriage. It’s that scene where the day begins. Adam figures this endless loop has to be connected to the solar eclipse that happened that day. But how? Being in each other’s company constantly has Carly and Adam becoming acquainted and soon feeling attracted to each other. After a kiss, the solar eclipse shortens. Another connection? Meanwhile, a scientist who is in the loop with them suggests that they are headed for a potential oblivion. A situation where no one returns to the present day. Potentially, death.

If you’ve ever watched the 2020 film Palm Springs, then you will be familiar with this plotline. The endless days have been going on for a while in NOT YOU AGAIN. Carly and Adam want it to end, but up until now, they had no idea of how to do it, or even how it happened. It’s not just Carly, Adam, or Shireen who are trapped here. His parents are, as well as others whom they all become acquainted with. They can pretty much walk around town, interact with each other, and go to bed knowing it will start all over again. Of course, they want to leave, especially if they don’t know how it will end. Needless to say, the story is a bit convoluted and different from any that I’ve read. But it’s entertaining. Carly misses her dad and doesn’t know how to honor him. Adam wishes he had defied his father and gone to college instead of staying behind to work in the family funeral parlor business. By the end of this tale, will they be free to return to their former lives, with a bit of a change? Meanwhile, Carly and Adam are falling in love. Can they forge a future together? That is, if they want one.

A bit of fantasy with a contemporary feel, NOT YOU AGAIN will pull you in and keep you reading to find out what is going to happen next. Carly and Adam are an engaging couple, and you will be hoping they are going to have a happily ever after. Will it mean both will get their life back to normal and find love together? Don’t miss NOT YOU AGAIN.
