Victoria Cameron needs to see the contents of her late great-grandfather’s journal, but unfortunately, it is up for auction. He was a renowned painter, and the family wants to know what happened to him during the “lost year,” a period of time that he was away from his family. Because the auction is invitation only, she isn’t supposed to be there, so Victoria latches onto Cade Whitley, pretending to be his girlfriend. Luckily for her, Cade goes along with the ruse. The fake date was only supposed to be for one night, but after she impresses his boss, who won the journal, he asks her to go with him to a weekend working vacation at his boss’s home out in the country.  They will pretend to be dating—and sharing a room. She agrees, because it will give her a chance to look at the contents of the journal.

Victoria and Cade are intrigued by each other in HER COWBOY FOR THE HOLIDAY, and their sexual chemistry is off the charts. She is honest with him as to why she needs to see the journal, while he hopes the good rapport she has with his boss will help him get that coveted work promotion. Of course, Victoria and Cade dance around each other a lot. They are just sharing a room platonically at first, but things soon turn into sharing more than a bed and a kiss. Cade has to keep his boss convinced that he is dating Victoria. Once the promotion is secured, they plan to break up. She will also be leaving after the new year for a new job in New Orleans, so their pretend will work out. Or will they break up? They are soon settling down in his condo, and she is helping him look for a bigger place out in the country. It seems as if they’re settling into a relationship. As it gets closer to when they have to break up, will there be a broken heart? Meanwhile, the mystery of the journal continues, which is why this is the first tale in The Cameron Family series.
