Atlanta, Georgia – Present Day

After losing his pro football career due to an injury, Xavier Lockett had spent some time at a mental health rehab facility. It is there that he met superstar singer Porscha Childs, who was there to recover from the loss of her father. They had a fling, but it ended when she misinterpreted something she overheard him telling a fellow patient—that she meant nothing to him. They split and Xavier hasn’t seen Porscha since—until she shows up to sing the national anthem at a game in his family’s stadium. Xavier seeks her out afterward, and the two rekindle their sizzling romance, though in secrecy.

Porscha’s controlling mother/manager, Diane, thinks Xavier is not good enough for her daughter. Porscha is currently filming a coveted movie with a leading male actor and needs all the good publicity to promote the movie and her song. Meanwhile, whenever she has the time, Porscha flies to Atlanta and meets Xavier at their secret love nest. It’s been months since they restarted their affair, and she wonders why they can’t come out into the open. Xavier’s family owns the Atlanta football team, and he is getting pressure from his father to join the team as a coach. But he seems happy to be a sportscaster.

After it is suggested that Porscha go out on a fake date with her co-star, Ryan, to promote the film, Xavier experiences jealousy. But it is he who has refused to make their romance public. Is it because he is ashamed of their romance? Yet, even as Porscha and Xavier try to break the bonds that tie them together, they can’t give up on each other. Their affair is volatile, leading to several fights. But being apart only makes them want each other more.

Porscha and Xavier thought their affair would be with no strings attached, but in A GAME BETWEEN FRIENDS, they soon discover that they can’t live without each other. Porscha became a teenage singing sensation but experienced the sophomore slump with her next album. Between that and losing her father, she needed mental health counseling, which is how she ended up in the same facility as Xavier. He went there after his career-ending injury left him with depression. The two hit it off, but they didn’t trust the other when it came to love. Now they are older, and the lack of trust is still present. As Porscha and Xavier’s rocky romance leads to breakups and reunions, the two begin to see outside the box when it comes to their future careers…and a life together.

An emotional read that will tug at your heart, as well as one that is sensual, A GAME BETWEEN FRIENDS is a tale that you won’t soon forget.
