Royal, Texas – Present Day

Natalie Hastings has had a big crush on rancher Jonathan Lattimore for years, but he never looks her way. One evening during a gala at the Texas Cattleman’s Club, a glitch in the public announcement system has everyone in the ballroom accidentally overhearing Natalie talking to her best friend about how much she is in love with Jonathan. Red-faced with embarrassment, she hopes he hadn’t heard but he must have because he won’t even talk to her and leaves the gala. For days afterward, people in Royal City bring up her confession. Deciding that a little vacation is in order, Natalie heads to Galveston to a resort hotel. To her surprise, Jonathan arrives at almost the same time.

Jonathan is a workaholic, and his mother finally forces him to go on a vacation by reserving a room at the hotel in Galveston. Surprised to see Natalie there, he finally decides to admit how he really feels about her. Jonathan has thought Natalie had a sexy body and he wouldn’t mind bedding her, but she comes from a good family in Royal and is off-limits. The two dance around it at first, but both finally agree to a weeklong fling while in Galveston. Once the week is up, they will return to only being friends again. Jonathan lets Natalie know at the beginning that he isn’t looking to marry. Can she accept this, knowing how deep her attraction is for him?

VACATION CRUSH is part of the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Ranchers and Rivals series, but there is little movement on the plot regarding the lawsuit over land owned by the Lattimore and Grandin families. The focus of this tale is on Natalie and Jonathan. They’ve known each other for most of their lives since their families run in the same exclusive circles in Royal. For as long as she can remember, Natalie has crushed on Jonathan. First, she was a teen and overweight. She grew up and lost weight, but by that time he had married another woman. After he got divorced, Jonathan didn’t date. Natalie wishes she could have a chance to be with him. Finding themselves together in Galveston finally gives her the opportunity.

Jonathan’s marriage to Anne ended badly. Readers won’t know until near the end what caused the breakup, but it’s clearly affected his views on marriage. Pouring himself into the family ranch, it isn’t until he’s forced to take a week off that he gets a chance to enjoy himself…with Natalie. She’s beautiful and smart, and they get along well together. So why is he refusing to fall in love with her or think about marrying her? This is part of the conflict in VACATION CRUSH. It’s clear to readers that Natalie and Jonathan are falling in love with each other. Can they take the right steps to a happily-ever-after? Find out the answer by picking up a copy of the enjoyable VACATION CRUSH.
