Laramie County, Texas – Present Day Busy rancher Alex McCabe needs a ranch cook and hires traveling chef Kate Taylor to be his latest cook for a few days. As well as running a ranch, Alex is the single dad of quadruplet boys who are five years old. It turns out that Kate is not only a wonderful cook, but the kids adore her. Alex finds himself attracted to Kate and shares a kiss with her. However, that kiss comes back to haunt him when his ex-wife sues him for custody of the boys, claiming that he is an unfit father. Tiffany hired a detective to spy on Alex and caught more than a kiss between him and Kate. His children are important to him, and he won’t allow Tiffany to gain custody of them, especially since she has been out of their lives since they were a year old. What should he do? We learn early on in A COWBOY’S CHRISTMAS GIFT that Kate knew Tiffany when they were in a girls’ school together, and they don’t like each other. Tiffany is a spoiled rich girl who latched herself onto Alex because she saw him as someone who’d keep her spoiled and pampered. Alas, he left the corporate world in Houston to return to his true love: cattle ranching. Tiffany had falsely claimed she couldn’t have children, so they agreed to have a surrogate carry their babies. Alex loves his boys, while Tiffany decided to walk away—with a nice, generous financial settlement. But now Tiffany is back, and she’s ready to blow up his life. Kate also grew up with wealthy parents, but their wealth was considered new money. Unfortunately, her parents worked constantly, including on holidays, leaving their daughter yearning for affection. Kate was engaged twice, but both ended after the men proved unsuitable for her. She had met Alex years ago, but they were both engaged at the same time, so they were not available. But now, neither is in a relationship, so sharing a kiss isn’t a crime. Kate and Alex are falling for each other, and she’d be the perfect candidate for becoming a mom to his boys. But she will be leaving soon—or will she? Can Alex convince her to stay—to cook for them—but also give him a chance to explore these growing feelings between them? What about the custody battle that may soon turn ugly? An intriguing and emotional tale that will tug at the hearts of readers, you won’t want to miss A COWBOY’S CHRISTMAS GIFT. The kids are adorable, and the romance comes quickly. You won’t be disappointed watching Alex and Kate fall in love as the holidays approach. Patti Fischer |
