Laramie County, Texas, the Present

Single mom Molly Griffith is determined to give her three-year-old son, Braden, a better start in life than she had. She came from a working class family--who are now all gone--and fell for a rich, handsome man whom she expected to marry when she told him she was pregnant. Instead, that's when she learned he was engaged to someone of his own class. Molly worked hard learning interior design and earning a general contractor's license as well. She's established a business in Laramie, but among her many her ambitions is to move to Dallas where she intends to make more money and to place Braden in an elite pre-school as a start of a first class education for him. She has made friends with the matriarch of the prominent Lockhart family, and has been hired to re-do the family home place on the Circle H Ranch. One minor irritation exists, however, if Chance Lockhart can ever be called minor.

When Frank Lockhart died, in addition to money, he left his five children what they would value most. Chance's legacy was a ranch of his own. Chance has always loved the rodeo, especially bucking bull riding. He raised and trained a Black Angus bull of his own and rode him to a national championship. Mistletoe has sired all the thirty bulls now on Chance's Bullhaven Ranch and commands a hefty fee to service customers' cows.

Chance is also a general contractor, and he and Molly are bound to run into each other often as they work for his mother. They get on each other's nerves, but Chance really does it when he tells Braden—who worships Chance—he can ask Santa to bring him the bull he wants for Christmas!

Beneath all the irritations, arguments and teasing (on Chance's part) that go on between the two lies latent attraction for one another . . . an attraction Molly fights mightily.

While all this is going on, others have plans of their own concerning Chance.

This excellent series began with Dr. Garrett Lockhart's story in A TEXAS SOLDIER'S FAMILY. I recommend starting with it as it introduces most of the siblings.
