Being back has been somewhat stifling for the always on the go Lucas, but Avery may prove to be a satisfactory distraction. The fact that she's his physical therapist is a bonus. Avery was always shy and self-conscious as a child, and she's still trying to not feel like everyone is judging her. Lucas is a famous person, and being seen with him has the spotlight on her. Add in that he's not into long-term relationships means she'd be picking up the pieces of her heart after he leaves town. But Lucas is very persuasive with hot kisses that tingle her body from head to toe.

As it turns out, Lucas has a rival for Avery's affections. The Blackstone Mill's accountant, Mark Zabinski, is pursuing her and doesn't like Lucas infringing on his “territory,” despite the fact that she's rebuffed Mark. He warns Lucas to stay away from Avery, but, of course, he's ignored. The more Avery and Lucas are around each other, the hotter the need rises between them. Soon, the passion can't be denied.

THE RENEGADE RETURNS wraps up the mystery of the sabotaging of the mill as the culprit's identity is learned. Readers who haven't read the two prior books in the Mill Town Millionaires series, A BRIDE'S TANGLED VOWS and THE BLACKSTONE HEIR, might want to pick them up to see what the drama is all about.
