Annapolis, Maryland – Present Day

Advertising executive Jamie Bacall comes from a wealthy family but prefers to maintain her independence from them. While attending a black-tie charity event one night, she spots construction owner Rowan Cowper. She only knows Rowan because of recent publicity where he went to the rescue of a gay man who was being viciously attacked and it was all over the newspaper. Jamie thinks Rowan is in a bit of a quandary as another woman is trying to accost him. She goes over and puts herself in between the two, indicating that she and Rowan are a couple. He thanks her and they decide to leave the party at the same time. However, the elevator gets stuck. Since they have nothing to do, they end up talking and eventually, kissing. Once they’re rescued, they end up in his apartment for a night of lovemaking.

Rowan doesn’t know Jamie, but he’s heard of her family. In fact, he could use their influence in helping him to get his name out there. His fling with Jamie is intended to be only one night, but a few weeks later, they need each other. He needs a date for an important client’s barbeque, and she needs a date for her parents' wedding anniversary party. Her family has been pushing her to date after losing her husband five years ago in an accident. It is at the barbeque and the smell of liquor suddenly being overpowering to her that Jamie comes to a horrifying realization…she’s probably pregnant. Jamie and her husband had unsuccessfully tried to have a baby but four miscarriages later, she was ready to give up on her dream of motherhood. She lets Rowan know that he’s the father of her baby—and that it will likely end in a miscarriage by week eleven. Will the tragedy of losing their baby bring them closer together—or push them apart?

While CROSSING TWO LITTLE LINES does border on sadness as Jamie and Rowan await the fate of their baby, there are some scenes/people that will make you laugh. Such as Jamie’s brother and his husband showing up uninvited for breakfast. It is sort of a running joke in this tale. Meanwhile, Jamie had wanted initially to continue their affair, but Rowan turned her down flat. However, he needs her when the important barbeque event comes up. Once back together, it’s clear to Rowan that he’d made a mistake turning Jamie down for some hot nights together. However, once they discover her pregnancy, it’s a battle of back and forth between them. Jamie doesn’t want him to get attached to her or the baby, while he wants to be there until the end. Big question for readers: will she indeed lose the baby, or is there going to be good news?

CROSSING TWO LITTLE LINES is an emotional read that will keep readers glued to the story to find out what happens. Jamie feels guilty about her husband’s death and thinks she doesn’t deserve love and happiness. Will Rowan make her change her mind? He wasn’t looking for love or a family himself after his painful childhood. Do two people deserve more happiness than Jamie and Rowan? Find out for yourself.
