Horror Fiction in Four Parts
Woodcutter’s Grim
Generations ago, a great evil came to Woodcutter’s
Grim. Using and corrupting fairy tale stories, that evil has fouled
the town and has finally found a way to spill beyond its borders.
The Guardians are a protectorate set up by the town’s elders
to protect the town from the childhood horrors that lurk in the
night and the woods. But their powers seem to be getting weaker
while the evil is getting stronger. Can they stop the malevolent
spread before it takes over the world?
Papa
Finally giving up on a difficult marriage, Randall
Parker left his family when he met and fell in love with kindergarten
teacher Amy. But their wonderful wedding and honeymoon takes an
immediate downturn when Randall’s ex-wife and children are
killed in a car accident. Amy, deeply religious, believes that
it is her fault for breaking the sanctity of a marriage and falls
into a deep depression. Nightmares where the children plot revenge
against Amy and their father plague her. Rand, fearful of what
has happened to his lovely and gentle wife, is determined to find
a way to help her and believes a weekend away will do her some
good. Will a visit to Woodcutter’s Grim help or hurt?
A very dark take on Hansel and Gretel, Papa will
chill the soul. A romantic horror, Rand and Amy must fight through
the evil in order to find their way back to love. This tale introduces
readers to the town of Woodcutter’s Grim and the evil and
sets up some of the characters, primarily the Guardians, who will
create the thread between the stories.
Blood of Amethyst
Amethyst Phillip and town sheriff, Gabe Reece, are
in love. He’d like nothing but for them to get married,
especially now that she’s pregnant. But Amethyst’s
father is the only family she has left, and she vowed to take
care of him. When he disappears in the woods, Amethyst is distraught
and wants nothing to do with Gabe. Something has come to life
in the woods and it wants blood, specifically Amethysts. Can Gabe
save her and his unborn child before it’s too late?
Rumpelstiltskin comes to life in Blood of Amethyst.
A bargain for a child was made, and the race is on to stop the
evil before it can claim its bounty. A man will go against his
code for love, but will it be enough to save the people of Woodcutter’s
Grim and those closest to him? A bleak and scary tale, Blood of
Amethyst, provides more background information on the town, its
history, and its future.
Dancing to the Grave
Diana Anders is happy her life is back on track.
When she discovered her husband, Kurt, was having an affair, it
nearly destroyed her. But they’ve managed to work through
most of the issues, though a few still linger as shadows in their
marriage. It’s almost Halloween, and Diana is looking forward
to the haunted house party they throw every year for the kids.
It’s a little worrying, though, how many of the kids are
coming down with a strange flu. It’s even worse how changed
they are when they ‘recover’. What’s happening
to the kids of Woodcutter’s Grim?
Denied what it wants, the evil of Woodcutter’s
Grim has returned to attack the town’s lifeblood…their
children. Dancing to the Grave is a modern and definitely darker
take on the Pied Piper of Hamelin tale. Diana is a strong woman
who has weathered some very hard times. She’s noticed what’s
happening to the kids and does what she can to ease their pain.
But what is the source of the flu, and how do they stop it from
spreading any further? Diana’s relationship to Amethyst
ties this tale to the previous one and sets up the final denouement.
The Amethyst Tower
Prince, son of Gabe and Amethyst, was born knowing
that he is the one prophesied to stop the evil for good. Unfortunately,
over several lifetimes, he’s not been able to find the woman
in his dreams who he knows is the key to ending the darkness.
He’s finally figured out what he needs to do, but does he
have the power and courage to save the world?
The final chapter of the story, The Amethyst Tower
brings Rapunzel to life. The innocent fairy princess will either
be saved or sacrificed, ultimately restoring or dooming the world.
A world-weary knight must find the castle, destroy the beast,
and save the princess.
A bit grimmer than Grimm's fairy tales, WOODCUTTER’S
GRIM will take you on a chilling journey through the darkness
of night. Take a ride with author Karen Wiesner to see if the
characters make it to the light.
