Chicago, Illinois and Mexico - Present Day

When Summer Donahue's accountant disappears with her taxes overdue, she's a bit frantic, but not too alarmed. Until she discovers that her business accounts have been emptied. In hindsight, keeping the ex-husband who cheated on her as her accountant and business partner might have been a bad idea. Then again, choosing her newest accountant based on the picture he had with his ad in the phone book is probably not a better choice, but certainly a good looking one.

When Summer walks through his office door, Ben Martinez is dazzled. But strict rules about not dating clients and the clash of Summer's hippy style with his more strait-laced approach to life stop Ben from acting on the attraction. Then again, when he finds himself offering to help Summer out of a financial bind, not to mention tracking down her wayward ex, Malcolm Crumm, has he really put thoughts about a relationship with Summer aside?

From the cold, wintry Chicago streets to the sunny beaches of Mexico, Ben finds himself chasing ONE CRAZY SUMMER. In the past, Ben has tended to date more refined and, in his opinion, accomplished women. His sudden attraction to the free-spirited Summer is intriguing, but one he fights against. Summer can't understand Ben's hot and cold attitude. One second he seems so into her and the next he's like a stranger. Having never been to Mexico before, Summer decides to ignore him and have a good time even as they search for Malcolm. Will absence (or at least distance) make the heart grow fonder?

Secondary characters, including Ben's family and Summer's friends, do their best to fan the flames of the blossoming relationship. Ben's indecisiveness goes on a mite longer than it could have, but ultimately results in a happy and heartwarming conclusion to ONE CRAZY SUMMER.
