Contemporary Romance San Francisco, Texas,
and Mexico - Present Day
It is finally Sierra Grayson’s turn. After
her mother, Ruth Grayson, used her matchmaking skills to maneuver
her four older brothers into marriage, Sierra, as the youngest
and the only daughter, is next in line. Sierra loves her family
and her new sister-in-laws more than anything, and she can see
how happy her brothers are, but she is not ready to get married.
Sierra wants to focus, for now, only on her career. Sierra, her
brothers, and their wives are in San Francisco, attending a fundraising
auction. Sierra’s new sister-in-law, Sabra, a Broadway star,
was to be auctioned off at the event. Sabra agreed before she
met and married Pierce, Sierra’s brother. Pierce, possessive
of his wife, is strongly opposed to her being auctioned off, so
Sierra talks the chairman of the auction into letting her take
Sabra’s place.
Afterwards, Sierra goes to meet Faith, another sister-in-law,
for lunch when she hears a man’s voice. Sierra is captivated;
she seeks out the face behind the voice. Sierra is not disappointed;
it is Blade Navarone, reclusive real estate mogul billionaire.
Sierra, a real estate broker herself, previously applied for a
position at Blade’s company. He never responded. When Sierra
finds Blade, she also finds Faith. It looks as if Sierra interrupted
an emotional moment between them. What is going on? Sierra knows
that Faith is close friends with Blade, and that she once used
him to make her brother, Brandon, jealous, but does her brother
still have reason to be?
That night, Sierra is auctioned off, and the man
who wins the bidding war is one of Blade's employees. Did Blade
send one of his employees to bid on her? Sierra is sure of it,
and she can’t wait to see what the coming night will hold
for her and Blade?
ONLY YOU is an old fashioned romance that reminded
me of the kind I read as a teenager. Sierra is beautiful and smart,
but kind, generous, loyal, and also has a wardrobe that most women
would envy. She is too good to be true, the kind of woman who
mainly exists in novels. Blade is rich, successful, and equally
generous. He is also tormented by a tragic event from his past.
When he meets Sierra, he is captivated by her, but can it last?
Secondary characters include Sierra’s loving but overly
protective family; Blade’s bodyguards, Rio and Shane; Blade’s
chef, Martin; and butler, Jenkins.
The story is well plotted and written, and readers
will want to see Blade and Sierra have their happily-ever-after.
The scenes with Sierra’s family are touching. However, there
were times while reading ONLY YOU that this reviewer felt unable
to fully immerse herself within the story. This was partly due
to the fact that it felt as if I had seen and read about these
same characters before. These are the type of characters that
only can exist within the pages of a romance novel. This criticism
is probably based more on this reviewer’s personal taste
than on any real flaws in the book. Ms Ray’s loyal readers
and fans of The Grayson’s of New Mexico series, plus readers
who appreciate a typical or classic alpha hero and heroine will
not be disappointed in ONLY YOU. It also seems that Ruth Grayson
may not be through with her matchmaking ways. Watch out, Rio and
Shane!
