Garvey County, Texas - Present Day

Selena James is the astrology writer for the local paper and a psychic. When a famous skeptic who exposes scam artists calls her delusional on television, Selena is furious. With her job and reputation on the line, Selena agrees to participate in the challenge her mother has set up with aforementioned skeptic Trent Sanders; they will spend two weeks alone in a haunted hotel. Selena must prove to him that ghosts exist or Trent will write a book exposing her as the scam artist he believes her to be. What Selena doesn’t count on is how attracted to her opponent she is going to be. When she spies the look of interest in his eyes, however, she resolves to have nothing personal happen between them. She is here to stick up for honest psychics everywhere, and Selena is sure that her anger will win out over her lust.

Trent can’t believe that he has agreed to waste two weeks with a psychic nutcase. His agent believes it is the perfect publicity stunt for the exposé he is going to do on Selena. When Trent gets his first glimpse of her, he is shocked by how sweet -- and wild -- she looks. Selena is hot. Maybe two weeks with her won’t be so bad if she spends it in his bed. However appealing it seems, sleeping with the enemy is not a good idea. Still, Trent decides to up their challenge to a more personal level; if Selena can’t prove to him that ghosts exist, she will have to spend one night in his bed. If she wins, Trent will go on television and tell the world ghosts are real and donate money to a psychic charity. Trent is now looking forward to winning an easy bet.

Other characters who drop into the hotel include Selena’s mother Angela, a pseudo psychic; Selena’s cousin Paige, a witch; Trent’s brother Tye; Trent’s mother Winnie, an open-minded antique store owner; Matilda, an elderly neighbor; and lustful ghosts Wesley and Dixie. They provide color with strange alliances, terribly timed intrusions, and naughty tricks.

DOUBLE DATING WITH THE DEAD is laugh-out-loud fun. Selena and Trent engage in verbal sparring matches, share wickedly sexy ghost-induced dreams, and watch with amusement and horror the sideshows various friends and relatives provide. Selena can’t help that she sees ghosts and is honestly angry and hurt by Trent’s claims against her. Trent was badly scammed when his father died and has made it his mission in life to expose all the con artists that he can. Their fight against the mutual attraction they feel fuels the chemistry between them to combustible levels. With fast pacing, smart, sassy writing, a terrific setting, and irresistible characters, DOUBLE DATING WITH THE DEAD is a story not to be missed.
