Las Vegas, Nevada – Present Day

Bianca Kirkland and her best friend Gertie have landed in Las Vegas for a Star Trek convention. Just imagine several hundred die-hard trekkies in one hotel with a little romance on the side, and you have the makings of a fun story.

Bianca has always been the beautiful one of the two friends, but has had her share of broken romances. The first night at the hotel, she and Gertie are relaxing in the bar when an attractive man catches Bianca’s eye. They seem to connect at first eye contact, and he soon comes over to talk to them. She learns that he’s employed with the hotel security and is called James by everyone. The whirlwind activities of the Star Trek convention overtake them both, but they still manage to keep running into one another, cementing their attraction.

Colby James is a bit miffed -- Bianca doesn’t recognize him. Okay, so he’s buffed up some from the geek she knew in junior high, but still, one would think she’d remember him. He tries to get closer to her, but then things heat up at the convention. Gertie comes down with food poisoning, which means Bianca is going to have to take over Gertie’s role as a Klingon Commodore. Suddenly Bianca is saluted by strangers dressed up in Star Trek costumes talking in strange code to her. She also has to preside over a wedding where the participants are naked. Yes, just another day in Bianca’s interesting vacation in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, will Bianca ever recognize Colby James?

Interesting, fun, and certainly an unusual tale, SHE BLINDED ME WITH SCIENCE...FICTION will keep you chuckling. The concept of a romance revolving about a Star Trek convention is unique and, at times, confusing. What is going on? It’s not until later on that you find out. Bianca and Gertie are like night and day, one light-hearted and the other dark and serious. Their banter will provide many a laugh out loud moment, but it’s the burgeoning romance of Bianca and Colby that provides SHE BLINDED ME WITH SCIENCE...FICTION its tender moments. Bianca is not sure what she got herself into, and Colby is wondering what the heck is going on and trying to keep up with her.

Kally Jo Surbeck is rapidly establishing herself as a talented writer to watch. She can write a dark drama or a comical yarn, and adeptly mix it with a warm-hearted romance to create something that is delightful to read. SHE BLINDED ME WITH SCIENCE...FICTION is definitely another entertaining romance from her. Enjoy the hijinks of Bianca, Colby, and Gertie, and don’t miss this fun tale.
