Romantic Suspense
Florida ~ Present Day
Kaylin Danner gave up on her dreams of going to New
York to become a professional dancer after her mother died. Now
left with the care of her two younger sisters, Lia and Becca,
and looking after her genius father, Kaylin makes ends meet by
teaching dance lessons to the neighborhood children. Her dad has
created a new biodiesel fuel, along with his partner, Sawyer Scott,
but before they can go public with it, the lab explodes, killing
Kaylin's father in the process. Now, as Kaylin maintains a strong
front for her sisters, she and Sawyer soon suspect that the explosion
was no accident. The only question now is whether or not she can
trust the man who is in charge of what's left of her father's
formula.
Sawyer Scott has no regrets about turning down a
lucrative job to work with Henry Danner. They had even made tons
of progress in the field of oil, but now all that is literally
up in smoke after a terrible tragedy. Or was it a calculated attack?
Sawyer quickly believes that Henry's death was no accident, as
Kaylin and her sisters are constantly terrorized and their home
broken into. Making matters worse is Sawyer's attraction to the
reserved Kaylin, whose prickly demeanor hides a fiery passion.
Having enjoyed Susan Kearney's paranormal titles,
I was looking forward to DANCING WITH FIRE. Though there are a
few bumps along the way, it's a nice blend of romance and suspense.
Kaylin and Sawyer's chemistry together is slow to build, especially
since it seemed that the attraction was one-sided when Sawyer
became entranced with Kaylin while he secretly watched her dance.
Kaylin's given up a lot to take care of her loved ones, including
a serious boyfriend, so it's understandable why she's quick to
brush Sawyer off. But once they both realize their feelings for
one another, DANCING WITH FIRE becomes a much more enjoyable read.
There are also a couple of plot points that I didn't feel were
necessary to the movement of the story, such as some secondary
characters, but despite it all, fans will no doubt enjoy Susan
Kearney's latest.
