Bahia Vista, Florida – Present Day

Police Sergeant Theo Petrakos is called to the scene of one of the strangest homicides he has ever seen. The corpse is mummified, but the eyeballs are still moist, and he was seen alive only a few days earlier. Petrakos finds a computer that is like nothing he has ever seen. Even more strange, just as a beautiful woman comes up to him in the night out of nowhere, he is attacked by some kind of monster, and the woman, giving him a weapon, fights along side him like a veteran soldier, then takes him prisoner!

Veteran space marine Commander Jorie Mikkalah and her team have landed covertly on Earth to deal with a large infestation of zombies, mech-organic entities originally designed by her own people to work in space. The zombies have found the perfect breeding ground on Earth and are multiplying quickly. Jorie’s mission is discovering what caused the change in the zombies, and then to clean them off Earth. Jorie’s mission is compromised when she runs across a heroic cop who is holding equipment left behind when their agent on Earth is killed by zombies. She takes him prisoner, but he talks his way back to Earth when he convinces the aliens that without someone who knows Earth culture to help them, they have no hope to complete their mission.

THE DOWN HOME ZOMBIE BLUES is an exciting, fast-paced alien invasion story and my first experience with Ms. Sinclair’s work. Along with Trekkie references, it has humor and romance. The story even has its own music score, created and performed by Travelin’ Ed Teja and Linnea Sinclair, available through her website. Jorie and Theo have as much electricity as some of Florida’s storms. Both have been hurt in the past, but their attraction is too powerful to resist. Linnea Sinclair succeeds in creating a believable alien culture, which must blend in with Earth to accomplish its mission. Jorie is a warrior, and definitely not a softie. She is competent, confident, and sexy, my favorite combination in a female character. She has the chance to attain the rank of captain; all she has to do is find out how the zombies mutated and kill all 350 of them, as well as beat the guy trying to cheat her out of the promotion. Can she do it? Read THE DOWN HOME ZOMBIE BLUES and find out!
