Mountains in the American Northwest – Present Day

Kyle McKendrick is wounded, shot in the shoulder, and on the run from his para-military group, Beta Force, and its leader, Major Thaddeus Biehl. Kyle has been kept under Beta Force's control after the death of his friend Jimmy. But Jimmy didn't just die. Kyle killed him rather than see him tortured during their last mission. Now Beta Force's scientists have been filling Kyle with drugs and anxiety-inducing medicines for the past year, until he finally had to escape. He is trying to escape to a place Jimmy told him was safe, a cabin in the woods. Jimmy had been gathering information against Beta Force, and now it is Kyle's duty to find it and bring to light the bizarre things that are happening.

Andrea Franks has lived in her house far away from civilization every since the death of her husband Jimmy. Jimmy worked for Beta Force, and over the years his whole personality changed; he wasn't the wonderful man she married he'd turned cold and hard. He had nightmares, and at the end, she was afraid for her safety. But when Major Biehl, the man in charge of the terrible place her husband worked comes into the peace of her house, he threatens Jimmy's brother and family if she doesn't give them the information Jimmy had on Beta Force. Andrea knows nothing of any papers, but Major Biehl tells her Jimmy's friend Kyle has escaped from Beta Force and is probably on his way to find her…oh, and by the way, Kyle was the man who killed Jimmy. When Major Biehl leaves and a wounded Kyle comes to her house, she doesn't know what to believe. Kyle admits killing Jimmy, but says it was Beta Force that made them into killing machines, and he is determined to close down Beta Force, preventing them from turning other young men into killers like he and Jimmy became.

Andrea is confused; Kyle admits killing Jimmy, yet she feels he carries a large load of guilt. Between threats and running for their lives, Kyle and Andrea come face to face with Jimmy, his death, and Kyle's part in his death. The rest of Jimmy's family must be protected from what he had become, a killer by command. Is there any proof they can find to put Biehl away and dismantle his organization? And can Andrea trust Kyle, or will he forever remain the man who killed her husband?

Pat White has given us action aplenty with LOVING THE ENEMY. Featuring the undercover governmental agency whose mission is to kill and murder people regular governmental agencies can't, this story has the leader of the agency working even more outside the box and virtually brain washing young soldiers who join, thinking they are helping their country with their service. Featuring dynamic personalities and dangerous situations, this story packs a punch you won't soon forget.

Major Biehl is the ultimate man whose inflated ego has him believing that laws don't apply to him. Is he crazy, or does he have connections that will result in Andrea's and Kyle's death? Major Biehl brings along the necessary soldiers to do his dirty work, men who believe him and will kill whomever he tells them to. Lieutenant Crane is working with Major Biehl. Kyle saved his life years ago, but will that make a difference in his treatment of them? And Jimmy's brother Tom has been saved from the knowledge of the person Jimmy became by Andrea, but does he hold the answer to Jimmy's decision to expose Major Biehl?

LOVING THE ENEMY will provide all the excitement you crave in a suspense story, along with the emotional scars of two people trying to come to terms with death. Each of them must deal with feelings of remorse, try to overcome the sadness, and accept that life must go on. Snuggle in your comfy chair and enjoy LOVING THE ENEMY for its emotional impact.
