Austin, Texas ~ Present Day

Two years ago, Sherri Masterson’s marriage to Greg Hogan crumbled under the secrets Greg refused to share with her. Sherri has made a new life for herself, but all that comes toppling down on the day she loses her job and then is in a horrific auto crash. Greg rushes to her side, seemingly intent on bringing her back into his life when he offers to care for her. But Sherri doesn’t want Greg to do so because she fears she hasn’t gotten over him.

Greg knows he did a disservice to Sherri by not coming clean with her. He came to Austin to make a new life for himself by working on the police force and doesn’t want to revisit his past. As each day passes, it becomes clearer to Greg that he still loves Sherri…and may not want to give her up when she’s better. But he may have to, if he has to open up about his past in order to save his broken marriage.

Two wounded souls were brought together five years ago and fell madly for each other. But they really didn’t know the other and it caused friction in their marriage. In MARRIED OR NOT? readers get a flashback of Greg and Sherri’s meeting and subsequent courtship, which helps provide insight into the couple’s relationship. Sherri was orphaned as a young child, something she hasn’t really gotten over as she longs for the closeness of a family. Greg told her that his own family, except for his great grandmother, was in Connecticut, but that is all. He wouldn’t tell Sherri about his family, leaving her to wonder just exactly what the problem was. A lesson is to be learned in MARRIED OR NOT? -- when you marry someone, they are a part of you, heart and soul, and keeping secrets will only rip the love apart.

Because MARRIED OF NOT? begins after the marriage ended, it takes a while to see the chemistry that brought Sherry and Greg together in the first place, but the flashbacks later help provide insight. Although I think Sherri agreed a bit too easily to resume marital relations, once they do, there really is not a real conflict in the story, other than Sherri wanting to remain independent and Greg’s refusal to share his secrets with her. The ending nicely glides to a finish that left this reader satisfied.
