Scottish Highlands - 1711 and Present day; Austin, Texas - Present Day

Present Day

Ten years ago, Maggie Graham was in training to be an archaeologist until the death of her parents left her to raise her younger sisters, Allie and Ellie. However, the twins are now grown, and Maggie (currently employed as a history teacher) has the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream; she gets to travel to the Scottish Highlands and participate in a dig. Maggie never dreamt that she’d also find the way to the long-lost Scotland of her fantasies, or the one man who could stir her soul.

1711

Quinn MacIntyre swore revenge on the Duke of Montrose after the duke killed his family for stealing his cattle. Along with his best friend, Ian, Quinn has been tweaking Montrose the best way he knows, by taking his supplies and stealing from his guests. Then, in the midst of escaping from a trap laid by Montrose, a flame haired beauty appears in his path and Quinn has no choice but to rescue her. Unfortunately, the rescue gives the duke’s men an opportunity to capture Ian.

Can Quinn convince the lass with the strange accent and even stranger clothes to help him discover if Ian lives, and help rescue him if he does? Maggie is convinced her rescuer is, as they say, quite daft, but if she really did have something to do with his friend being in trouble, how can she say no? More importantly, how can she resist falling in love with this incredibly compelling man?

Quinn is most definitely a HIGHLAND ROGUE with plenty of women willing to testify to his prowess in bed, and more than a few adventures under his kilt. He’s the type of man to inspire fantasies and heartrending sighs when the maids discover they’ll never be able to tame him. Maggie is a dreamer, true; years of acting with the utmost responsibility have tempered her dreams and tamed her wilder ambitions, but underneath her common sense exterior beats the heart of a woman who is more than ready for adventure and all the danger that comes along with it. Quinn hasn’t allowed himself to feel love for anyone since his family was killed, but Maggie manages to insinuate herself into his heart with ease. But can he admit how he feels, and does it even matter when his path in life seems certain to end badly? Though Maggie has a bit of a hard time adjusting to the knowledge that she’s traveled back in time three hundred years, she has an even more difficult time accepting the fact that she’s fallen for Quinn. After all, she can’t possibly stay in 1711 with Quinn; even if that’s an option, she has to go home to her sisters, doesn’t she? Whether or not this pair of lovers manages to rescue Ian or evade the duke’s clutches, there’s one thing that’s impossible to deny, they’re obviously meant to be together, and a love like that is the kind everyone dreams of.

Maggie’s sisters, Allie and Ellie, are twins, and I must say their mischievous natures must have made raising them interesting to say the least. Rachel is Maggie’s best friend and, along with the twins, she’s responsible for Maggie getting the chance to travel to Scotland. Now that’s a favor impossible to repay! Professor Alexander Mac MacGregor is in charge of the dig in Scotland and though he’s a hottie, his determined flirting does nothing to raise Maggie’s interest. Ian MacGregor is Quinn’s best friend and fellow rogue. With his blonde good looks, he’s the perfect foil for Quinn. Jenny, along with James, the man she loves, works for Montrose. They both seem like good people, but can they be trusted to help Maggie and Quinn, or will they support Montrose? Bittie is a good friend of Quinn’s and the soft-spoken man comes to his aid when asked. If you’re a fan of Scottish history, you’ll recognize Rob Roy MacGregor and his wife Mary. The famous outlaw (not yet an outlaw in this book) had a deal with Montrose that went bad. He also adopted Quinn into his clan after the death of his family.

If you’re in search of a book that combines vivid characterization, humor, love and a storyline that owes much of its intrigue to the author’s historical research, look no further, HIGHLAND ROGUE is awaiting your purchase in bookstores everywhere.
